Are you considering registering at MAK for next year? In lieu of an open house, we would invite you to one of two school tour dates, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 6:30-7:30 pm and again on Wednesday April 10, 2019 from 6:30-7:30pm.

Michael A Kostek Attendance Area

Michael A. Kostek has closed boundaries which means we can only accept students that live in the designated areas. Students residing in the following areas are designated to attend Michael A. Kostek School:

  • Jamieson Place
  • Wedgewood
  • Cameron Heights
  • Edgemont South

Students in these areas are guaranteed enrolment at MAK and bussing is available for students from Cameron Heights, Wedgewood and Edgemont South. Proof of residency is required. We appreciate your early registration to assist us with our planning process.

Kindergarten Registration and Students New to the District

Please note the following dates for new registrations for kindergarten and for students in other grades who are not currently registered at an Edmonton Public school:

  • February 4, 2019: EPSB schools begin taking kindergarten and other new registrations
  • April 15, 2019: Pre-enrolment closes at 4:00pm

Pre-Enrolment for Students in Grades 1 - 6

Students in Grades 1-6 register through School Zone under the Next Year tab. Registration opens March 11, 2019 @ 9 a.m. and closes April 15, 2019 @ 4:00 p.m. Parents will need to use their own SchoolZone account in order to access the pre-enrollment system. Please contact the school office if you do not know your parent account and we will assist you. Help us plan by pre-enrolling during this time. If you can’t connect to SchoolZone to pre-enroll, or you have questions about choosing a school, please call your current school for assistance.

Supply lists for the 2019-2020 school year, will be posted in May of 2019

Michael A. Kostek will begin taking Kindergarten registrations on the first day of registration which is Feb. 4, 2019. We will only be accepting students that live in our boundaries so please be prepared to show proof of address as well as your child’s birth certificate or passport to confirm your child’s age.

Children who are four years of age on or before March 1 may register in Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.

In addition to the Edmonton Public School Board form the following document needs to be reviewed Kindergarten Screening Letter

Kindergarten registrations and a.m./p.m. placements are not based on a first-come, first-serve basis. This means schools can only assign students into a.m. and p.m. classes after pre-enrolment closes on April 16. Our families can register anytime from Feb. 4 to April 15, 2019. Each family will be able to state a preference for a.m. or p.m. and hopefully we will be able to accommodate everybody’s requests. If requests for a.m and p.m. are unbalanced, we will first contact families and see if they are able to switch a.m./p.m. and if we are not able to make balanced learning groups then Michael A. Kostek staff will submit a list downtown to Student Information for a random selection to assist with organizing a.m. and p.m. classes.

Families will receive a letter the beginning of June confirming a.m. or p.m. placement and identifying the classroom teacher.
